-
Castle Mountains Postcards
are html documents containing graphics, text
and some are created using Java.
-
Castle Mountains Postcards
currently uses My Postcards Platinum 5 for reliability and security.
-
You can send as many
postcards as you like as often as you like,
they're free.
-
To send a Castle Mountains
Postcard the recipient must have an e-mail
address and a browser that is capable of displaying
graphics.
-
From the menu page,
select a category of cards that you would like
you view. From the card selection page
click on the link under the graphic you would
like to select (if you would like to preview
the image prior to selection just click on the
image for 100% viewing) click on the back button
on your browser to return to the card selection
page. After selecting a graphic you will
be directed to the page where you can select
the postcard options, etc. After completing
this section select the send this buttom
and this will take you to a preview page, where
you can preview your creation.
-
In addition to selecting
a graphic, we also have features which
allow custom design of cards - stamps,
poems, music, personal messages, multi send
function (send the same card to up to 25 recipients),
and the send later function (choose the
date you would like your postcard sent - up
to 30 days in advance). It is
very important to ensure that you have entered
your email address correctly and the recipients
email address correctly.
-
We will notify the recipient
via e-mail that they have a card waiting with
instructions on how to retrieve the card.
Castle Mountains also sends a notification to
the sender when the recipient has picked up
the card. If the postcard is not
claimed within 7 days it will be deleted from
our server.
A
lot of your computer memory is used up by viewing graphics
in card sites. Not only does your computer have
to view the card images but the background graphics,
title graphics and sound file if one is embedded in
the selection page. You can make more memory available
by closing other programs or web pages. Don't
forget to clean out your temporary internet files
or cache files on a regular basis and restarting your
computer.
Due to the high graphics and your modem speed depends
on how fast the page will download for you. The
Castle Mountains Postcard server is very busy with 20,000
plus visitors per day, this will also affect the speed
of the web page download for you. Should you receive
an error message while trying to enter the site, this
means the site is very busy and you should try again
later.
Castle Mountains Postcards offers Java postcards (i.e.
Lake Reflections, Snow and Rain effects on cards).
These cards can only be viewed with browsers that are
Java enabled. If you have a Java enabled browser
and still cannot view the Java cards, you might have
to change the Java settings on your browser. If
you still are unable to view the Java cards you can
click on the reload or refresh button on your browser
menu, this usually always works. The recipient of a
Java card must also have a Java enabled browser to view
the postcard that you sent.
To hear a midi file (music) the recipient must have
a sound card, speakers and driver software. There are
free downloads available for Microsoft
Media Player
and Crescendo
Free
plug-ins you might want to download as well:
SHOCKWAVE
REAL
AUDIO PLAYER
QUICKTIME
BY APPLE
All graphics and cards are best viewed
with AOL 4.0. If you have lower version you might
want to upgrade. If you are not sure of what version of
AOL you are using:
- click on help on the top tool bard
- click on about "America Online"
- if it refers to 3.0 for windows then you are using the 16bit
version (you will not be able to display java cards with this
version) - if it refers to 3.0 for windows 95 then you are using
the 32 bit version (this version will support java and other
multimedia applications)
Note You cannot upgrade
from AOL 2.5 directly to AOL 4.0. If you are currently using
AOL 2.5 and want AOL 4.0 you will have to download AOL 3.0 first.
